This year our Fundraising Manager, Kags Garrard, was joined by colleagues and friends to form Team Arrow, as they took on the 2025 City 2 Surf. Below, Kags reflects on a successful day:

Last weekend, I laced up my running shoes alongside friends and colleagues to take part in Sydney’s iconic City2Surf. For those who’ve never experienced it, the 14km course winds from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach, packed with 80,000 runners, walkers, and everyone in between. The atmosphere is incredible with music, costumes and a sea of runners all taking on the challenge. Even the wet weather we experienced on the day couldn’t get us down, and somehow the rain actually bonded the runners to make it an even more special experience.

But this year, the day wasn’t just about the run. It was about giving back and making a difference. Together, our little team set out not only to conquer Heartbreak Hill but also to raise funds for a cause close to our hearts. And I am so happy that together we managed to raise over $2,000.

That’s $2,000 that will go directly toward supporting patients and families through some of the toughest times of their lives, making a real impact beyond the finish line.

Running shoulder-to-shoulder with friends and colleagues was something special. We motivated each other up the tough stretches, laughed at the fabulous costumes that zipped past us, and cheered as we finally hit Bondi with tired legs but big smiles. Crossing that finish line knowing we had also hit our fundraising goal made it even sweeter.

The City2Surf reminded me that when community and purpose come together, the results are powerful. Every step, every donation, and every cheer along the way added up to something bigger than any one of us could have achieved alone.

To everyone who supported us – thank you. Your generosity turned our run into something much more meaningful. And to my teammates: same time next year?
