Arrow goes to Blood 2025

Blood Conference 2025 Perth
The Blood Conference is an annual conference for clinicians to discuss all things blood. It is hosted by the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ), Australia and New Zealand and International Society of Blood Transfusion, and Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australia and New Zealand.
This year’s conference was held in beautiful Perth from 26-29 October 2025. The event attracted over 2,000 healthcare professionals from around the world, including haematologists, scientists, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, and allied health professionals. Attendees learned from presentations delivered by more than 100 invited speakers, including 20 international experts, and explored over 600 oral and poster abstracts showcasing research work.

Arrow Stand
Arrow was delighted to have a stand at the conference, giving us the opportunity to share with healthcare professionals the support we provide to them and their patients. We had plenty of visitors come to see us, which allowed us to reconnect face to face with people we had previously only met online, as well as meet many new faces.
We also ran a competition at our stall, with a prize generously donated by Officeworks. The prize pack included a powerbank, ear pods and door bell, kindly coordinated by nurse Sharni Dickenson. This highly sought after prize, attracted over 70 entrants, and gave us another great opportunity to engage with attendees.
The lucky winner of our competition was Jemma Stewart from Peter Maccallum Cancer Centre, who seemed to have Arrow luck on her side, having only just recently been informed of her successful scholarship application to attend the European Bone Marrow Transplant (EBMT) CAR-T conference next year in Madrid.
We were excited to share our new patient brochure outlining all of the services Arrow offers, along with information on our scholarships and our latest annual report. We received wonderful feedback from those we chatted with, who were eager to learn more about our work and how it can help them better support their stem cell transplant and cellular therapy patients.

Perth Hospital Visits
Before the conference, we were pleased to be invited to speak at a mini BMT symposium held at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth. This was another fantastic opportunity to share Arrow’s work with the hospital’s haematology team. Following the symposium, we toured the hospital including the BMT ward, and met the wonderful staff in the haematology department.
We also visited Perth Childrens Hospital, another hospital that we have developed a relationship with in recent years. Again visiting the BMT Ward and meeting the staff, it was terrific to put faces to names, especially those who refer patients to our patient financial support program.
We look forward to continuing our relationship with both of these Perth hospitals and thank them for hosting us.

Scholarship recipients
Thanks to funding from Jazz Pharmaceuticals, we were able to provide travel scholarships to three nurses from across Australia to attend the Blood Conference in Perth. The successful recipients were:
- Brooke Grech, from Royal Melbourne Hospital
- Katrina Debosz, from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
- Katrina Wragg, from Box Hill Hospital
It was a delight to meet these nurses and hear firsthand how valuable conferences like these are for their professional development. They enthusiastically shared with us the presentations that they had attended and were inspired by. You can read more about what they learnt from the conference on our blog here.
