Blood 2023: the Shaun Rosen Nurse Scholarship is helping Serafina attend.

After attending BLOOD (the scientific meeting of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australian and New Zealand Society of Blood Transfusion, and the Thrombosis and Haemostasis Society of Australian and New Zealand) last year, we know just how valuable this event is. It is a wonderful opportunity for those who work in haematology to connect with colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand, and share the latest knowledge and experience with one another.
BLOOD is on again in Melbourne this year, and we are pleased to announce that Serafina Levak of St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney has been awarded the Shaun Rosen Nurse Scholarship to help her attend.
When we informed Serafina of her successful application for funding to attend BLOOD 2023, she wrote to us saying, “I am very much looking forward to attending this conference in Melbourne as it is an opportunity that will allow me to network with people from different parts of Australia and New Zealand also in the haematology world. It will be interesting to hear all the new innovative treatments that are being worked on and find out more about these treatments. This really is a great opportunity that will allow me to bring back this information and resources back to my unit here on X9S St.Vincents… You work so hard doing your role and to get an e-mail saying I can attend a funded conference is amazing. I am truly grateful.”
We wish Serafina every success at the conference, and look forward to hearing back from Serafina upon her return from BLOOD 2023 in November. Her trip to the conference in Melbourne is made possible by funds from the Shaun Rosen Scholarship which was established with a $25,000 donation from Shaun Rosen in 2016.
