FUNDRAISING

How do I fundraise for Paint the Town Red?

We have made fundraising for Paint The Town Red really simple through the GiveNow platform.

When you register on GiveNow (see ‘how do I register?’ above) this will automatically set you up with a fundraising page that you can use to collect online donations.

The fundraising page is called a ‘CrowdRaiser’ and people will be able to donate directly to your page with their credit card. There is no chasing for you and you can see who has donated and how much they have donated so you can thank them personally.

Click here for more information on how to set up your CrowdRaiser page through GiveNow.

How do I use my fundraising page?

You will be sent a URL for your fundraising page once you’ve registered for Paint the Town Red on GiveNow, and you can start fundraising straight away! That URL is for your own personal page, which is connected to the Paint the Town Red cause.

You can personalise your page by adding a photo, information about why you are taking part, a fundraising target and details about your event.

Do I have to use GiveNow to set up my fundraising page?

Yes please.

The GiveNow fundraising page provides an efficient way for us to keep track of everyone participating in Paint the Town Red and provides us with a way of approving your fundraiser.  Should you have any troubles registering your event through Give Now, please let us knowWe would be happy to help set it up on your behalf.  If you need help, please send an email to Kags, our Fundraising & Partnerships Manager. Her email address is:

kgarrard@arrow.org.au

Should you not wish to use the Crowdraiser page to seek donations, for example because you are hosting a face to face fundraiser and accepting cash donations, that’s OK. You can deposit any donations to our bank account and we can manually record your donation to your fundraising page.  Please contact Kags if you plan to run your event this way so she can work with you to make sure things go smoothly for you.

Where does the money go?

The funds raised will go to Arrow’s Patient Support Program which provides financial assistance for bone marrow and blood stem cell transplant patients and families. This support helps to reduce financial distress while they are undergoing treatment. Patients can request help in the areas of most financial concern to them, including essential groceries, utility bills, and medically-related travel and accommodation. This enables the patient to focus on what is most important – their health, treatment and recovery.

How do I ask people to donate?

It is as simple as just asking! You can send them the link to your fundraising page and ask them to make a donation. Make sure you explain what the fundraiser is for and why you are taking part. The more people understand your reason for participating in Paint the Town Red the more likely they are to donate.

Is a donation to Paint the Town Red tax deductible?

Yes! A donation of $2 or more towards Paint the Town Red is deductible. If someone donates on your online fundraising page a tax receipt will be sent through to their account. If you need further tax receipts for cash donations, please speak with our Fundraising & Partnerships Manager, Kags, to obtain these – kgarrard@arrow.org.au

However if someone purchases a ticket to your event, an auction item or a raffle ticket, the funds will NOT be tax deductible. For you to claim a tax deduction for a gift (donation) – The gift must truly be a gift. A gift is a voluntary transfer of money where you receive nothing in return.

How do I donate the money I've raised?

The easiest way is to set up an online GiveNow fundraising page through Arrow’s Paint The Town Red page. See the REGISTRATION section above. All the funds collected on through GiveNow will come directly to Arrow, so there’s no chasing for you to do, and we will have a record that these donations have been made via your page.

We do understand not everyone likes to use online fundraising, so you can still collect money directly and pay this into our bank account. Please contact our Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, Kags, to get the details of our bank account – kgarrard@arrow.org.au

We want to make the process is as easy as possible, so if you need any help along the way, contact Kags.

I don't want to host an event. Can I still fundraise for Paint the Town Red?

Of course you can! If you don’t want to host an event, we would still love you to set up a fundraising page and promote it to people to ask them to donate to the cause. Every dollar raised will help support bone marrow transplant patients and their families needing financial assistance.

I've forgotten my password. Can you help me?

If you are trying to log in to your GiveNow CrowdRaiser page, but you have forgotten your password, click the ‘Forgotten password’ link. You will be asked to fill in your email address to receive a new link to reset your password.

HOSTING AN EVENT

Do I have to host my event on a certain day?

No, you are welcome to host your event anytime during September.

How do I host an event?

The beauty of the Paint the Town Red event is that it can be whatever you want it to be! Choose a way to fundraise that suits you and the time and resources you have. Whether it’s a red-themed extravaganza event with every person in your address book, or a smaller gathering with your family and friends, or a wear red to work day, the choice is yours. There is no one way to run your event, and everyone can contribute in a way that feels meaningful to them. So have a think about what you would like to do and what works with your time and resources and then let us know!

How should I promote my event?

There are so many ways to promote your event. If you need extra resources or support to make your event a success, please contact Kags, our dedicated Fundraising and Partnerships Manager – kgarrard@arrow.org.au

Make sure you are utilising your social media and emails too. That is the easiest way to get your message out there and you can easily post the link to your fundraising page and ask people to donate. If your company is supportive, you could approach them and ask if they would support you. This could be through matched giving (dollar matching anything you have raised), hosting an event in your office, putting your fundraising link on your email footer and many other ways.

Tell as many people as you can, keep updating them on how it is all going and make sure you thank them personally if they do donate!

Well done on getting press coverage for your event! That’s a fabulous way to help your event be successful and also to raise awareness of the challenges faced by bone marrow transplant patients and their families.
