Research Priorities for Paediatric Stem Cell Transplants

The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) have recently concluded an excellent piece of research into what matters most to those dealing with paediatric stem cell transplants, and we are proud to have played some small part in that project through inviting our patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to participate.
The Bone Marrow Transplantation in Paediatrics Priority Partnership was a study designed to consult with all the groups of people who are part of paediatric BMT, from parents and teens, through to researchers and academics, to clinicians and allied health professionals working in the area. The goal was to improve the lives of children who are undergoing bone marrow transplants by identifying the top unanswered questions in the field that are not yet addressed by current research.
After several rounds of consultation with the community, and then consolidation of their findings, the MCRI has now announced the top 10 research priorities for paediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
Thank you to all of you who took part in this important piece of work! We look forward to seeing research evolve in line with the priorities identified.
