An army of support for bone marrow failure patients

Bone marrow failure syndromes (BMFS) are rare and complex syndromes where the body fails to make sufficient blood cells, leading to many significant disruptions to health. People with BMFS — and they’re usually children or young adults — are often severely anaemic, or they may suffer from internal bleeding, and they often have extremely low immunity leading to frequent illnesses.
Around 160 people are diagnosed with bone marrow failure syndromes each year in Australia, and for many of them, treatment will ultimately lead them to a bone marrow transplant, or perhaps several.
Here at Arrow, we provide financial assistance through our patient support program to people who have had a bone marrow transplant as treatment for BMFS. We are pleased to announce that Blake’s Army have recently partnered with us, generously donating $20,000 to support these patients.
Thank you to the leadership team at Blake’s Army, and to all the Blake’s Army Reservists who have made this support possible.
