Hawkesbury Canoe Classic 2018
Arrow Chairman and Vice-Chairman set to take on the 42nd Classic
Veteran paddler and Arrow Chairman (Mark O’Hara), is gearing up for his 18th Hawkesbury Canoe Classic (HCC) and will paddle with first timer, Vice-Chairman Neil Pennock, on the 27 – 28 October.
Over the past 24 years, the overnight 111km paddle has raised almost $4 million in support of a research scientist at the Blood Stem Cell and Cancer Research Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. The HCC also funds the Arrow/HCC PhD Scholarship Program, and recently contributed towards the redevelopment of the St Vincent’s Hospital Haematology and Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit.
With support from the HCC Arrow recently provided funding for a literature review aiming to give nurses and dietitians a better understanding of the duration and severity of nausea and vomiting experienced post autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant. The initial abstract was presented at the Health Beyond Research and Innovation Showcase 2018 in Sydney in June.
Stay tuned for a post paddle story on how Mark and Neil blitzed the 111km!
