Supporter Stories

Despite the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic event, being forced to cancel due to COVID for the second year in a row, the paddlers of the HCC have shown their unwavering support for Arrow. Embarking on a fundraising campaign, asking paddlers to donate $1 for every kilometre they would have paddled had the event gone ahead, the crew have set themselves an impressive fundraising target of $50,000.

Recognising the important contribution the paddling community make to Arrow patients, nurses and researchers, the team are keen to pursue their fundraising target in absence of the event. Some paddlers have even chosen to embark on the paddling event solo, completing 111 kilometeres in a socially distant manner, sponsored by their family and friends.

The Hawkesbury Canoe Classic’s support over the past 30 years has been most generous and during the past three decades the team and Arrow have seen many changes in the landscape, but none like that we are experiencing now.

We thank Hawkesbury Canoe Classic for continuing to get behind Arrow during these unprecedented times – a time when patients and researchers need us the most. With many transplant patients experiencing financial hardship right now due to the effects of COVID and research budgets being cut, HCC’s continued support is crucial.

The team have already raised an outstanding $7,500. If you would like to support Arrow and the amazing paddlers of the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic reach their fundraising target of $50,000, and ensure Arrow can continue our important work, we encourage you to donate here:
